انکودر Encoder یا اینکودر یک دستگاه سنجش است که بازخورد موقعیتی را به سیستم ارائه میدهد. رمزگذارها (روتاری اینکودرها) حرکت مکانیکی یا خطی را به یک سیگنال الکتریکی تبدیل میکنند که این سیگنالهای خروجی میتواند توسط برخی از انواع دستگاههای کنترل در یک سیستم کنترل حرکت، مانند شمارنده یا PLC خوانده شود. در واقع انکودر (Encoder) (انواع انکودر ) یک سیگنال بازخورد ارسال کرده که میتواند برای تعیین موقعیت، شمارش، سرعت یا جهت استفاده شود. یک دستگاه کنترل میتواند از این اطلاعات برای ارسال فرمان برای یک عملکرد خاص استفاده کند. به عنوان مثال در یک جرثقیل بزرگ، روتاری اینکودرهای نصب شده بر روی محور موتور، بازخورد موقعیت یابی را ارائه میدهند تا جرثقیل بداند چه زمانی باید بار خود را برداشته یا رها کند.
